Be a coffee-drinking individual - espresso yourself!

On Monday afternoon we sat around and drank our first cup of coffee as freshman (well, sugar coffee :-). This is Caroline (Jenna's roommate), Melissa (Jenna's suite-mate), me and Jenna! After a lazy Monday afternoon, we went downtown Chicago after dinner! We had to complete a scavenger hunt with our First Year Forum groups. The scavenger hunt was very boring, but Jenna and I had a lot of fun looking at the buildings and sculptures downtown. I saw the bean for the first time; it was very cool!

Today we went to the Children's Hunger Fund with the whole freshman class and wrapped Beanie Baby bears. There were 300 freshman and 10,000 Beanie Babies! It took us just under two hours to get all the bears wrapped. These bears will be distributed to needy families in Europe by the local churches there.

"HAKUNA MATATA" Means No Worries

Yesterday, Saturday, I met lots of very nice people. I met kids from all over the U.S and one girl from Canada. All the girls in our hall took tours of each other's rooms and then we talked for awhile. The student activities committee put on mixer games late Saturday night and I played lots of CRAZY games.

Caroline took peanut butter and smeared it ALL OVER my face and then decorated it with goldfish crackers!

For this game you drank some water, held it in your mouth and then inserted an alka seltzer tablet. You had to see how long you could hold the tablet in your mouth, with it fizzing, before you spewed. I couldn't hold it in my mouth very long!

In this diaper was chocolate pudding and a gummy worm; you had to open the diaper with only your mouth and then get the gummy worm out.

This girl and I (I kinda forgot her name- imagine that!) had to fed each other applesauce. She dropped it in my eyes a few times!

Some girls and I also chewed bubble gum and made an Eiffel Tower with it. It was fun but very nasty!

I prayed on Friday that I would meet some friends, because I was feeling lonely. On Saturday I had a great time hanging out with different groups of people, and I met Jenna- she is in my First Year Forum group. We look familiar to each other, but neither of us can figure out how we know each other. We started talking and realized that we have a lot in common! We both like country music, COLORING, running, and being crazy! I have laughed a lot with her and we only just met. I helped my R.A., Katie, decorate her dorm room after church today and then Jenna and I decided to color pictures (she brought coloring book and crayons too!). We colored out in the lobby and a bunch of kids came and colored with us. Now Jenna and I are hanging out listening to music...I am so glad that God answered my prayers and led me to some amazing friends. I now have no worries!

Couldn't wait to get goin' But wasn't quite ready to leave

I was super excited to move away to college, but not ready to leave my friends or family. However, moving in today went amazing and now I feel ready for college! I could not have asked for the day to go any better and I thank God for all He has done!
I had my very own space at home and a nice big room! I was worried that I wouldn't be able to fit all of my stuff in our tiny little room. (When I walked into the dorm for the first time it was a LOT smaller than I imagined it would be.) With the help of my dad, we arranged the furniture and rearranged the furniture so many times; eventually we found a layout that we both liked! Zena and I maximized the space, filling up every shelf and flat surface. Although I have a hard time getting up and down from my bed, I love the room layout. We added lots of decorations to the room and now it feels like "home." Here are some pictures of my old room and my new room!

This City!

As I find myself heading to Illinois, I realized that "YOU'RE the GOD of THIS CITY." And you're the God of where I live now. God is the one CONSTANT in my life, when everything else is changing. I'm so sad to be leaving my family and friends. But it's comforting to know that GOD WILL BE WITH ME NO MATTER WHERE I AM.
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9
